Timekeeper Mode
Switch on Timekeeper Mode to edit the story itself: your character, the world, the hidden rules and the narrator's last reply.
Everyone can steer the story with Direct and Rewind (see The Five Tools of Living). Timekeeper Mode goes further: it lets you change the story's underlying settings in the middle of a game.
Turn it on from the menu at the top right of your story: Timekeeper Mode has an on/off switch. It works in the historical eras, the myths and Unbound worlds.
Edit Blueprint
With Timekeeper Mode on, an Edit Blueprint button appears at the top of the left-hand panel, under your character's name. The blueprint has three tabs:
- Character: your identity, home, biography, objectives, long-term ambition, skills, flaws and secret.
- World: the world's name, time period, location, premise and the factions and powers at play.
- System Rules: the hidden instructions and cultural and social context the narrator follows.
Your changes apply straight away to your own game. Nobody else's story is affected.
Edit the narrator
An Edit button appears on the narrator's latest reply. Rewrite it to fix a mistake or to send the story in a different direction; the narrator carries on from your version.
Export Log
Export Log, also on the latest reply, downloads the whole story so far as a .txt file to read offline, or as .jsonl for other tools. See Exporting Your Stories & Characters.
Adding people and places
You can add a person or place to your Directory whenever the story needs one.
If you created the story or world
Creators see extra options:
- Save to Master Blueprint: saves a change to the original story or world, so it is part of every future game, not just yours. This works for the character, world and system rules tabs and for new people and places.
- Behaviour settings on Directory cards: a person's Active Want, Refusal Anchor and Speech Fingerprint (see How People Behave).
