The Manual › The People You Meet

Relationships

Everyone you know has trust, fear and closeness towards you, their own wants, and lines they won't cross.

Rather than one "friendliness" score, each person you know feels three separate things about you, each from 0 to 100:

  • Trust: do they believe what you say?
  • Fear: are they afraid of what you could do?
  • Intimacy: how close is your personal bond?

Together they make for real relationships. A crooked policeman with high fear and no trust will do what you say, but will turn on you the moment you look weak. A spouse might trust you completely and not fear you at all.

Each person also has a mood that shifts with what happens in the scene.

People have their own minds

You can adjust trust and fear in their Directory card if the story has moved on. See The Directory.
