Inventory & Hidden Items

You can only use what you carry. Hide things somewhere in the world and come back for them later.

Inventory

You can only use items you are actually carrying. Pick something up and it's added; drop it, spend it or give it away and it's gone. Try to use something you don't have and the narrator will describe you fumbling for it.

Hiding things in the world

Stash an item behind a loose brick, under a floorboard or with a trusted friend, and the game remembers exactly where it is. Come back later, even weeks later, and it will still be there unless someone found it, or the place itself is gone.

Example: in one long test game, a pirate radio DJ hid his shoes on deck just before his ship sank. With the shoes at the bottom of the North Sea, he stayed barefoot for the next 500 turns, including a painful police chase over London cobblestones.
Tip: Searching a place doesn't make convenient items appear. If it isn't there, it isn't there.
