The Manual › The People You Meet

The Directory

Your record of every person and place you've met. Edit it to help the narrator remember what matters.

The Directory (under My Affairs) is the story's long-term memory: every person and place you've encountered, each with a card.

Cards fill themselves in

You don't have to record anyone. When someone new appears, a background system writes their card for you. See The Librarian.

Editing

You can edit any card:

  • Change someone's trust or fear of you, or add details to their biography ("she has a scar on her left cheek") so the story always remembers them.
  • Pin cards you want the narrator to keep in mind.
  • Merge duplicate cards for the same person.
  • Add a new person or place yourself.

The Chronicle map

The Chronicle map shows the people and places in your story and how they connect. Rumoured places can be explored and brought to life.
