Update: Timekeeper Mode, Ledger Upgrades and True Campaign Exporting

A new suite of tools for total control over your stories: Timekeeper Mode, an Environment card, the Identity Dossier, V2 character cards and full save files.

We've been making changes behind the scenes and have introduced a suite of new tools to give you ultimate control over your stories.

Introducing Timekeeper Mode

All players have always been able to use Direct the Story and Rewind Time from the text bar to change the course of the plot. Switching on Timekeeper Mode from the menu unlocks more ways to rewrite the simulation mid-game.

Edit the Blueprint. Blueprint editing now has three tabs:

  • Character & Story: change your identity, home, biography, objectives, ambition, skills, flaws and secret. If you created the story, you can save these to the master copy for all future games.
  • World & Setting: edit the world's name, time period, location, premise and factions mid-game. A world's creator can push these to permanently update the original world.
  • System & Narrative Rules: tweak the hidden AI instructions and cultural and social context driving the engine. A world's creator can save these to change the universe's mechanics for everyone.

Every player can edit all three tabs for their own game, to tailor their session exactly.

Add new people and places as the story demands. Again, creators can save them to the original world; players keep them in their own timeline.

Edit the narrator: rewrite the AI's latest reply to fix an inconsistency or steer the story in a particular direction.

Export Log: download your whole story as a text file to read offline.

Ledger upgrades and a new look

Our Ledger has always worked silently in the background, tracking your inventory, goals, companions and the things you've hidden in the world. Now we're bringing the most important parts of it to the surface:

  • Dynamic navigation: your exact location and the exits available to you now appear in the left-hand panel, updating as you move. See Where You Are: Locations & Exits.
  • The Identity Dossier: to make room, your biography, home and secret have moved into a slide-out dossier, opened from your identity card.

And as a reminder, the Librarian still runs alongside all of this, quietly building and updating your lore cards as you discover new things. See The Librarian.

Exports, V2 cards and save files

We want to make sure your campaigns and characters are never trapped with us:

  • V2 character cards: exporting a character from their card now creates a V2 card that carries not just the character's details but the full context of the world they belong to.
  • Session export and import: from the Memories page you can now export your exact save state. To keep the platform secure, re-imports are handled by hand for now through Discord: open a ticket in the Timekeeper support channel.

That manual import solves one of the most frustrating limits of AI RPGs, the "locked world". When a creator fixes a bug or updates a world, games already in progress usually miss out, because their save is welded to the old version. Export your campaign, have it imported into the updated world, and your game inherits the fixes without losing any progress.
