Hello to all our current subscribers, and great to see so many more of you joining over the last few weeks. It's still a bit quiet on the Discord, so if you fancy helping to shape what comes next, or just chatting about the eras, please come and say hello.
As always, there's been lots going on. We've been developing Forge Your Own Destiny, which is already proving popular, launched 1917: Mud & Revolution, and, following the Android app last time, we're proud to announce that our iOS app is now live on the Apple App Store!
1917: Mud & Revolution
Our latest era launched during May. Continuing the direction we took with Tombstone, we've based as many characters as possible on real people: Jane Sissmore, the first female officer in MI5, who had a photographic memory; Hans Rose, the "Gentleman of the Sea", who famously rescued American and British sailors after battle; and my own great-grandfather, who served in the Royal Navy. As our story begins, he's busy preparing his ship for Prince Faisal (the future King of Iraq, famous for his collaboration with T. E. Lawrence) to come aboard.
1917 is our most expansive set of stories yet. All nine begin on the same day, 6 November 1917, but they're spread across Europe, Russia and the Middle East. With Forge Your Own Destiny, players will also be able to place their own characters in Africa or the Balkans, as well as on any of the fronts already featured.
In the same spirit, we've made some subtle changes to Rome: Blood & Marble, again using real people as much as possible. Our next expansion will be Myth Through Time, hopefully arriving within the next two weeks.
Forge Your Own Destiny
Letting players create their own characters has been the plan from the start, and it's something many of you have asked for. The challenge has been keeping the realism and accuracy the game is known for. We've been testing it with a few Discord members over recent weeks, and we're almost there: a few more tweaks, and Forge Your Own Destiny goes live this week.
At first it will let you add a custom character to one of our 11 historical eras. The ability to create complete stories in any timeline is coming soon too.
We're live on the Apple App Store!
The Live Through Time app is now available on the Apple App Store, so you can take your timelines anywhere. It has the same deep RPG engine, optimised for mobile, and it's fully cross-platform: start on the web and pick up exactly where you left off in the app.
Multiple languages
Finally this month, we've translated the entire site, game and database into Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Chinese, to make the game as accessible as possible around the world. We're asking Spanish-speaking players to check each section of the site before we roll out the other languages. If you spot any mistakes, please let us know.
We've also added new fonts for the narrator's text, including Atkinson Hyperlegible for partially sighted players and OpenDyslexic for players with dyslexia. See Text Size & OpenDyslexic.
As always, we'd love you to join the conversation and help shape the future of the game.
Thanks for reading, and good luck in the trenches.
